GFDC and the Fremont High School have been working together to provide students with experiences that introduce them to our primary industries. Tours of local industries can help inspire students and educate the public on modern manufacturing which today is providing clean, safe, and rewarding careers. By showcasing our local industries we hope it not only inspires the next generation of manufacturers but that it will also encourage students to look right here within their own community for jobs that pay well and can provide a promising career.
Manufacturing has jobs that can be entered directly out of high school as well as many positions for those who complete both two and four-year degrees. Currently the Fremont High School has a program inspired by Dream It. Do It. called Introduction to Trades. This is a dual credit program in partnership with Metropolitan Community College. Students are introduced to skills used in manufacturing. They obtain a 10-hour OSHA certification and are matched with a local employer for an internship in the second semester of the year.
