In recognition and celebration of federal Community Development Week, Nebraska proudly presents the outstanding efforts of one of four of Nebraska’s larger cities:

Fremont (pop. 26,397)—The “City of Opportunity” has a proud history of progress and success. Its citizens, government, and business partners work closely to effect great growth. Projects have included a six-month, $95,000 city branding project involving the City of Fremont, Fremont/Dodge County Visitors Bureau, Midland University, Fremont Area Community Foundation, Fremont Area Medical Center, Greater Fremont Development Council, and Metropolitan Community College; development of a City/County SWAT team; major capital improvements to Midlands University, including a 40,000 sq. ft. Midland Event Center and student housing; purchase of land for a new Fremont Middle School and the Fremont family fun pool (the $5 million Splash Station); and a 9,600 sq. ft. education center at the Eastern Star Masonic Home for Children. Additionally, new businesses, including Natura Pet Foods and RTG Medical, and Nebraska Health and Human Services’ new ACCESSNebraska location have opened, or are opening soon. The City and Nebraska Department of Roads have worked to improve the Fremont Regional Airport and area roadways. Fremont’s Christensen Business Park and new 81-acre Technology Park with shovel-ready facilities also expect to soon attract cutting-edge technological businesses.
