All Metals Builds Shipping Building

Construction has begun on a new 30,000-square-foot shipping building at the All Metals Market Inc. main processing facility, 1225 County Road Y south of Fremont.

Dirt work is completed and the building is expected to be erected by the end of December, company officials said.

Construction has begun on a new 30,000-square-foot shipping building at the All Metals Market Inc. main processing facility, 1225 County Road Y south of Fremont.

Dirt work is completed and the building is expected to be erected by the end of December, company officials said.

The addition will accommodate an organized inventory and staging area for processed inventory. It will feature three shipping dock doors for loading outbound non-ferrous metals for delivery to consumers throughout the United States.

“The current single-dock door building we are working out of is cramped as it also houses a portion of the inventory while the rest of the processed scrap is sitting on concrete outside in the elements,” said Todd Hoppe, general manager. “Storing non-ferrous metal outdoors is not a good business practice as the recyclables need to be kept clean and dry or risk downgrade or mill rejection.

“The addition of the shipping warehouse will make changes for the local in-town customers dropping off metals,” he said. “We are closing the MetalMart buying facility in town and going to bring our employees and the equipment back to the main yard for the winter.”

The company opened the MetalMart location at 150 E. Cloverly Road in the spring of 2011. It will close on Oct. 1.

“When next spring arrives,” Hoppe said, “we will assess whether or not to reopen the Cloverly location. We hate to inconvenience our MetalMart customers and close the in-town location, but with our current expansion plans and the Platte River bridge completion, visiting our main recycling facility will be extremely easy and customer friendly.”

All Metals constructed a 10,000-square-foot, two-story office building in 2011, replacing a 1,200-square-foot building, and installing a new 75-foot scale. The building includes a second-story observation area, meeting rooms, a break room and office space. It was the largest expansion project ever for the company, which sits on 18 acres of land.
