Following a grassroots movement to bring awareness to multicultural issues through reading, Fremont High School librarian Dana Fontaine decided to initiate a Project Lit program within the Book Club at FHS.

“We are starting Project Lit this year because we need to read more diverse literature in our Book Club,” said Fontaine, who has sponsored the Book Club for three years at FHS. “We need to represent all groups at the high school and open our eyes to a world outside of Fremont.”

Founded in 2016 by Jarred Amato, a reading teacher in Nashville, Project Lit is a program designed to enrich a community’s knowledge and tolerance of diversity and to enhance literature with lifelong reading habits and multicultural awareness.
