Meet Abby Wharff, Creative Program Coordinator for the Greater Fremont Development Council. Abby is a fantastic addition to the GFDC team. She is our first point of contact for visitors and focuses on program coordination, handling accounts payables/receivables, events and providing assistance to the entire staff. As a Fremont native, she is intimately familiar with our area, has chosen to raise her family here and is passionate about lending her talents to help Fremont grow. We invite you to get to know Abby and to say hello next time you are in the GFDC office.
What was your background prior to joining GFDC?
I was in the banking industry from 2011 until 2015 when I left to stay home with my first child. When returning to work I was a medical receptionist and chiropractic assistant before joining the Greater Fremont Development Council.
What do you hope to accomplish while working at GFDC?
I am excited to use my past experience and skills to provide efficiency and excellent customer service to all who come through our doors and to the staff. This is a dream team and I’m excited to be a part of it!
As a young professional, what are your favorite things about Fremont?
Being a Fremont native, I’ve always loved the way the community comes together. Everyone is very supportive here. I also enjoy being able to see a familiar face no matter where I am. In Fremont, we have a variety of activities offered for all ages from recreational to pure relaxation, so this is an excellent place for my family.
Why should other young professionals move to Fremont?
Fremont, NE is a beautiful place to live and raise a family. We have a wonderful school district for our children. It’s a cozy town with a close proximity to Omaha and its amenities while providing that small town atmosphere perfect for raising a family. Every sport, school, or shopping can be found within 5 minutes. I simply love it here!
