Fremont’s Annual Christmas Walk: How Your Participation Benefits our Community

26 Nov 2019

Horse drawn carriage rides, live reindeer, a beautiful holiday tree and the historic charm of downtown Fremont make for a truly magical way to start the holiday season. You can expect that and more on November 30th when Fremont celebrates Small Business Saturday (SBS) with the Annual Christmas Walk.

Mainstreet Fremont’s Annual Christmas Walk

Enjoy a day filled with fun, Christmas shopping, and dining in Historic Downtown Fremont. Participating business will have sales, treats, and refreshments available throughout the day.

After spending the day shopping and eating, bring your family to the Annual Tree lighting at 5:30 pm followed by photo opportunities with live reindeer! Don't forget to stroll and see the white lights of downtown with a free horse drawn carriage ride from 6 pm -8 pm.

Fremont’s Christmas Walk and SBS is Good for Our Economy

The Annual Christmas Walk is a holiday tradition for many Fremont families and visitors. The event creates incredible memories and is the perfect way to start the holiday season for shoppers and businesses.

What many people don’t realize is how big of an impact they can make by spending their shopping dollars locally. Since starting SBS ten years ago, American Express has been studying the economic impact of the event and of supporting small businesses all year long. In their recent Small Business Economic Impact Study they found the following:

  • Every dollar spent at a small business in the United States, contributes 67 cents to the local economy.
  • Each dollar spent at a small business, creates an additional 50 cents in local business activity.
  • Every ten jobs at a small business, supports an additional seven jobs within the community.

By choosing to purchase gifts from local stores instead of big box retailers, community members are directly impacting Fremont’s economy. With enough support, these local businesses will hire more employees who in turn, support other local businesses. It’s a snowball effect that puts the power directly at the feet of our community. We have the ability to impact the future of our community with our choices. Now that’s an exciting reason to celebrate Small Business Saturday, attend the Annual Christmas Walk and shop small all year long.

Join us in supporting small businesses. Here We Grow!
