Tax Foundation Ranks Nebraska No. 1
The Tax Foundation released its latest study of bottom-line tax liability for businesses in each of the 50 states titled “Location Matters: A Comparative Analysis of State Tax Costs on Business”.
The study found that Nebraska was No. 1 overall for newly established operations, and for both new corporate headquarters and new call centers.
Nebraska also ranked No. 2 for mature R&D operations, with a total tax burden nearly 50 percent less than the national average, and for both new capital-intensive and new labor-intensive manufacturing.
Nebraska again topped several other rankings:
Top 5 for Accountability and Transparency (Best Corruption Fighters), Center for Public Integrity, Global Integrity and Public Radio International
5th America’s Healthiest Housing Market, The Lending Tree Healthiest Housing Index
6th Best State for Economic Competitiveness, Beacon Hill Institute’s State Competitiveness Report
8th in America’s Highest Well-being/Happiest States, Gallup-Healthways Well-being Index 2011
5th in Top 10 Cities to Raise a Family – Lincoln, 24/7 Wall St.

Langan Showcases Technology Park at AFCOM
Mar 19 2012<p>FREMONT, NE, March 17, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The sixth largest city in Nebraska is looking for suitors to move into the Fremont Technology Park. The technology park is ideally set up for data centers and technology-related businesses.</p>
<p>Pat Langan, Director of the Greater Fremont Development Council, will be showcasing the Fremont Technology Park March 18-22 at the AFCOM Data Center Conference in Las Vegas, NV.</p>

<p>Last week saw more good news for the state of Nebraska on the success of our new economic development initiatives.</p>
<p>The Beacon Hill Institute ranked Nebraska sixth in the nation in their State Competitiveness Report for 2011.</p>
<p>The Institute’s report based its rankings of the states by examining state policies in several areas. The overall ranking combines 44 economic indicators in eight categories. These categories include: 1. Government and fiscal policy, 2. Security, 3. Infrastructure, 4. Human resources, 5. Technology, 6. Business incubation, 7. Openness and 8. Environmental policy.</p>
<p>We ranked particularly well in the infrastructure, human resources and security subindexes.</p>
<p>I think that’s a testament to the great people and excellent workforce that we have in Nebraska. It speaks very highly for our K-12 public schools and our public and private institutions of postsecondary education.</p>

<p>Lincoln Journal Star reports That Nebraska tax climate is tops for new businesses.</p>
<p>That's according to the nonpartisan tax research group the Tax Foundation, which Wednesday released its 2012 report on business taxes titled "Location Matters: A Comparative Analysis of State Tax Costs on Business."</p>
