Greater Fremont Development Council becomes a Finalist in the 2012 “Best of the Midwest” Mid-America Economic Development Council Awards.

The Greater Fremont Development Council (GFDC) has worked hard this year with Golden Shovel Agency to improve their online presence - and others have taken notice. Every year, the Mid-America Economic Development Council hosts a conference where they recognize the top leaders in Economic Development in the Midwest.

GFDC sent in their nomination for the ‘Online Marketing’ category showcasing their website - www.fremontecodev.org. They also entered the ‘Community Promotion and Marketing’ category concentrating on their Fremont Technology Park Marketing Program. After months of reviewing proposals from economic developers from around the Midwest, GFDC was announced as a finalist in both categories.

Barb Pierce, Business Development Coordinator for GFDC is pleased about having their website and social media program named as a finalist in such a prestigious event.

“I am excited for the exposure that the greater Fremont area will receive as a result of being named a finalist in the MAEDC awards. Our new website provides a place for prospects and existing businesses of Fremont to locate meaningful resources, including local and state programs, maps, sites & buildings and workforce information. The goal of our social media campaign involving Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter is to consistently drive more audience to our website and create awareness of Fremont as a progressive, welcoming community to live, work, and play in.”

A marketing program showcasing the Fremont Technology Park is also a finalist in the category of ‘Community Promotion and Marketing.’ GFDC Economic Development Manager, Doug Heim, said “this is most certainly a timely development for GFDC and the City of Fremont. There are no signs of a slowdown in the demand for data center projects. This exposure is an important step in marketing the land available in the Fremont Technology Park.”

Specific rankings will not be made public until the luncheon presentation on December 3rd at the 2012 Mid-America Competitiveness Conference & Site Selector Forum in Chicago. Winners and all finalists will be named at the awards presentation that will take place during this same conference. MAEDC award winners will be featured in the January edition of Site Selection Magazine. This opportunity opens the door for Fremont and Dodge County information to be easily accessible to the economic development audience.
