Foundation Supports FAMC Services, Offers New Scholarship
FREMONT, NE – February 20, 2014: The Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation is an important source of funding for the Medical Center, providing dollars that are vital for the enhancement and expansion of FAMC. Donations to the FAMC Foundation are vital for the continued growth and support of programs and services of the Medical Center.
While enhancing and expanding the programs and services of FAMC is the Foundation’s main mission focus, since 1989, the Foundation has also been essential in helping nearly 200 students continue their education.
According to Anne Folkers, Director of Development at FAMC, scholarships are an important part of the Foundation’s mission. “By helping individuals within our service area to become healthcare providers, we hope they will return to this community and our Medical Center as doctors, nurses, allied health professionals – helping to fill needs and enhance services. It is through the generosity of others that we can help individuals achieve their educational goals in healthcare, and we hope they will come back to help someone else as a healthcare provider.”
The Foundation awards scholarships to area high school students in the spring and college students in the fall. Applicants will see a new $2,000 scholarship offered this year called the “FAMC Foundation Impact Scholarship”.
“The Foundation’s Scholarship Committee and Board of Directors recognized a need to offer more educational assistance to students pursuing a course of study in healthcare,” said Folkers. “The FAMC Foundation Impact Scholarship has been established to assist an individual who has made a significant impact on their community and school with the ambition to make an important impact on the field of healthcare as well.”
High School Scholarship applications are now available and application deadline is April 1, 2014. Visit www.famc.org/scholarships for an application and more information on all scholarships available through the Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation.
The FAMC Foundation was established in 1976 and is lead by FAMC’s Director of Development. Foundation operations are overseen by a Board of Directors made up of volunteers from Fremont and surrounding communities served by FAMC.
