Family owned and operated, Structural Component Systems, Inc. (SCS), continues to grow in the Fremont area. Celebrating their 30-year anniversary in 2017, they have expanded their business from meeting the needs of residential contractors and home builders, to handling large-scale commercial projects including student housing, stores, apartment complexes, and assisted living facilities.

SCS has three main product lines: roof trusses, floor trusses and wall panels. They also manufacture and supply complete packages for contractors looking to source their framing materials from one location and a variety of engineered wood products. What makes SCS stand out is that everything is customized and made-to-order. When a customer places an order, they are connected with an in-house designer. This ensures that the exact requirements of each property are met. Designers then create blueprints and, once the customer signs off, those plans are sent to the manufacturing side of the house where state-of-the-art technology is used to create the final product.

Helping SCS Grow

The Greater Fremont Development Council was pleased to assist SCS with their recent expansion project through connecting them to the incentives and training programs available from both state and local sources.  SCS was able to utilize the LB840 program and expanded into the former Gambles warehouse on East Dodge Street.

“Our company had grown so much and so fast we were busting at the seams.” The move came at the perfect time to help accommodate the company’s growth. They were able to add an additional 100 employees as a result.  Today they encompass 48 acres and nearly 350,000 square feet of manufacturing space while employing over 375 people.

SCS appreciates the strong work ethic found in Fremont along with the close proximity to Lincoln and Omaha, which creates the ability to hire workers from a larger geographic area while also being close to customers. Being located on a rail line, makes it easier to receive goods direct from lumber mills and other manufacturers of wood products.

They have been selected by QC Supply, the general contractor for the Costco project to supply trusses for the numerous barns to be built in the region that will be supplying chickens to the Lincoln Premium Poultry plant which will open its doors in the summer of 2019 in Fremont’s industrial district.
