The Greater Fremont Development Council is proud to announce the completion of the first housing rehabilitation as a result of the Fremont Home Fund. This renovation is adding an upper level, 3-bedroom apartment in downtown Fremont. An open house was held Monday evening for Fund Investors, GFDC Board of Directors, and Housing Committee members in order to showcase the finished project. It did not disappoint!
Todd Hoppe is the owner and developer of 228 Main Street. When Hoppe purchased the building, the upstairs contained 2 small apartments which based on evidence he found there seemingly had not been occupied since the 1970’s . After a complete renovation bringing the space up to current building codes, an upscale apartment is now located on the top floor ready for occupancy. Hoppe has a passion for renovating and revitalizing Main Street Fremont buildings. When he heard of the Fremont Home Fund, through the Greater Fremont Development Council, he saw it as an opportunity to help his project along, while showing what the Fund could do to revitalize dilapidated spaces in Fremont.
The Fremont Home Fund was created using an award from the State of Nebraska’s Rural Workforce Housing Fund and matching funds from local Fremont businesses and investors. Its intent is to help repair dilapidated housing, or build new housing throughout Fremont by providing low interest, revolving loans to developers or homeowners. Funds are available for additional housing projects.
