Fremont wins Housing Partnership Award

The City of Fremont received the Housing Partnership Award during the annual meeting of the Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District (NENEDD) held on Thursday, July 11 in Norfolk. The City of Fremont was recognized for the accomplishments they have achieved through their Comprehensive Revitalization program. Since the program started in 2005: 8 vacant, dilapidated homes have been acquired, demolished and their lots have been cleared and deeded to Habitat for Humanity for the construction of single family homes; 17 owner-occupied homes have been rehabilitated; and numerous street, sidewalk, water and sewer improvements have been made. Current projects include the rehabilitation of three owner-occupied homes and three rental homes, as well as, water main replacements on Military Avenue.
