Fremont Public Schools named Shawn Shanahan and the Fremont Area United Way board of directors as their 2013 “Distinguished Friends of Education” during its opening session ceremony Friday.
Shanahan and the United Way board have engaged the Fremont community in a problem-solving process with action plans and accountability directed at the issues and challenges faced by the district and the community resulting from poverty, parents skills, school readiness, family structure, social/emotional needs and language barriers impacting the academic progress of our children.
