Nebraska edged out over half the nation by landing on Site Selector Magazine’s list of 2025 Top State Business Climate Rankings.
Industry participants were asked to rank each state as “most likely to succeed.” Among the top criteria site selectors took into consideration were each state’s ability to offer:
- Pro-business policies including ease of permitting and regulatory procedures
- Transportation infrastructure
- Workforce skills
- Quality of life
- Land/building prices and supply
- State and local tax structure
- Workforce development
- Higher education resources
- Economic development strategy
- Incentives
What mattered most to site selectors casting their vote? The affordability, availability and reliability of power. Nebraska’s 100% public power model has consistently been recognized as having excellence in all three of those categories. It is also the only state that operates without investor-owned utilities.
