Gas was 27 cents a gallon in 1961, John F. Kennedy moved into the White House, construction began on the Berlin Wall and Howard Pearson started Overland Products in Fremont.
The Berlin Wall didn't last, but Pearson was on hand Thursday when Overland marked its 50th anniversary with a noon luncheon for current and former employees.
